About Kyra FraserI spent my childhood growing up in the suburbs of Seattle, Washington and developed a deep passion for horses at an early age. I began taking formal riding lessons when I was 9 years old, starting on a school horse. I was soon leasing, then eventually purchased, a wonderful older gelding named TJ, who encouraged a great seat and gentle hands, and had bounciest trot ever ridden!
During this time, I was exposed to a variety of trainers and riding disciplines. The majority of my early childhood riding education and show experience was western disciplines, but I later found a passion for dressage and jumping, and began training with dressage and jumper trainers in Washington and Oregon. As a teenager, I began training and rehabilitating horses, including off-the-track Thoroughbreds, BLM mustangs, and abused and neglected horses. Through them, I learned to train with kindness and compassion. Throughout my riding career, I've developed a reputation as an effective and fair trainer and coach. I have the ability to take difficult horses and get to the root of the problem as well as greatly improve a horse's body and mind by applying a classical training approach. I have had the opportunity to work with great clinicians including Debbie McDonald, Dr. Gerd Heuschmann, Danica Yates, Mark Rashid, Richard Schrake, and Ricky Quinn, and enjoy putting into practice theories of biomechanics, applied behavior, and equine learning. In 2018, I'm returning from maternity leave and taking on students and horses in training at Pegasus Equestrian Center in Monroe, Washington, where I ride and train my own sport horses. Now training at Pegasus
